सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कर्नाटक की 15 जिलों में की गई विस्तृत जाँच, जिससे दवादाज़ी समर्पण की कोई मौजूदा प्रथा नहीं मिली, की प्रशंसा की और राज्य को दवादाज़ी पुनर्वास कार्यक्रम के तहत दी गई आर्थिक सहायता व पुनर्स्थापन उपायों के विस्तृत विवरण प्रस्तुत करने का निर्देश दिया। यह आदेश 2025 के कर्नाटक हाई कोर्ट के निर्णय से उत्पन्न विशेष अनुमति याचिका की सुनवाई के दौरान दिया गया।

<p>New Delhi: Taking on record Karnataka’s detailed district-level verification that found no continuing practice of dedicating girls as Devadasis, the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/supreme-court">Supreme Court</a> has asked the State to furnish particulars of financial assistance and rehabilitation measures extended to former Devadasis and their families.</p><p>A bench of Justices Augustine George Masih and R. Mahadevan was hearing a special leave petition arising from a June 2025 Karnataka High Court judgment. </p>.Cease-and-desist notices create cause of action for trademark suit: Supreme Court.<p>Counsel for the State, advocate-on-record Rajesh G Inamdar, assisted by Rakshita Singh, placed a comprehensive compliance affidavit sworn by Vasanthi Uppar, General Manager of the Karnataka State Women Development Corporation.</p><p>The affidavit recorded that multi-level inquiries conducted through Devadasi Dedication Prohibition Officers and police authorities across all 15 districts revealed no present or ongoing system of dedication. Since the Karnataka Devadasis (Prohibition of Dedication) Act, 1982, came into force, 33 cases have been registered in five districts, resulting in 12 convictions.</p>.NEET-PG 2026: Plea in Supreme Court seeking release of actual questions and answer options along with answer key.<p>The court specifically praised the State for carrying out an actual ground-level exercise rather than a superficial one. It has now asked Karnataka to place on record details of benefits provided under the Devadasi Rehabilitation Programme, covering education, self-employment support and financial assistance to ex-Devadasi women and their families.</p><p>The bench indicated it would first examine the situation in Karnataka before considering whether to enlarge the scope of the proceedings and issue notices to other States. The State reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement of the ban, continuous monitoring and mainstreaming of affected women and their families.</p>
