The same goes for any other football fan who has been on the receiving end of Cityâs âsportswashedâ total football.But for United fans, to truly understand the hurt, one needs to go back to 13 May 2012.United were playing Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and Rooney scored the only goal. As the match ended, the United players waited for the result from the Etihad, where City were trailing QPR 1-2 in injury time. And then Dzeko and Aguero scored, giving City their first Premier League title, a moment that, with the benefit of hindsight, was the day the balance of power shifted in Mancunian football.
