सुप्रीम कोर्ट कलेक्शियम ने आंध्र प्रदेश, केरल और उत्तराखंड हाई कोर्ट में 11 अतिरिक्त न्यायाधीशों को स्थायी पद के लिए अनुशंसा की

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meetings held on 23 September 2026, has approved proposals for the appointment of 11 Additional Judges as Permanent Judges of the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Uttarakhand.

The Collegium has recommended five Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court for appointment as Permanent Judges. They are:

Dr Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao

Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar and Justice Challa Gunaranjan were appointed as Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in October 2024. The Government of India notification dated 24 October 2024 appointed them for a period of two years under Article 224(1) of the Constitution.

Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr. Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao were appointed as Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in January 2025. The Government of India notification dated 22 January 2025 appointed them for a period of two years under Article 224(1).

The Collegium had earlier recommended Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar and Justice Challa Gunaranjan for elevation to the Andhra Pradesh High Court in October 2024. The official Collegium resolution records that all three had been recommended for appointment as Judges of the High Court following assessment of their suitability.

For the Kerala High Court, the Collegium has recommended five Additional Judges for appointment as Permanent Judges:

Justice P.V. Balakrishnan

All five were appointed as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court on 30 October 2024. The official High Court and Government judicial-strength records show that their present terms as Additional Judges are due to expire on 29 October 2026. The Collegium had earlier recommended Justice P. Krishna Kumar along with other judicial officers for elevation to the Kerala High Court in October 2023, while the recommendations of Justice K.V. Jayakumar, Justice Muralee Krishna S., Justice Jobin Sebastian and Justice P.V. Balakrishnan were made in October 2024.

The Collegium has also approved the proposal for appointment of Justice Subhash Upadhyay, Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Subhash Upadhyay was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court pursuant to a Government of India notification dated 26 May 2025 issued under Article 224(1) of the Constitution. He assumed charge on 30 May 2025. His present term as Additional Judge is scheduled to expire on 29 May 2027.

The latest recommendations concern elevating these Additional Judges to Permanent Judges of their respective High Courts. The appointments will take effect upon issuance of the requisite Government notifications and the President of India’s appointment.
