वीरमानी बाल बलात्कार मामले में हाई कोर्ट ने मीडिया व सोशल मीडिया को वीडियो प्रसारण पर रोक लगाई
मद्रास हाई कोर्ट ने आज आदेश जारी कर दिया है कि मीडिया आउटलेट्स और सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म्स किसी भी बाल बलात्कार के वीडियो को प्रकाशित, प्रसारित या साझा नहीं कर सकते। न्यायाधीश व लालक्ष्मी नारायणन ने पहले से अपलोड किए गए वीडियो को 26 सितंबर तक हटाने का निर्देश दिया है, अन्यथा पुलिस को कानून के तहत कार्रवाई करने को कहा गया। आदेश के अनुसार, मीडिया को इस मामले के तथ्यात्मक पहलुओं को उजागर किए बिना विषय पर चर्चा करने की स्वतंत्रता होगी।

CHENNAI: Madras high court on Friday restrained media outlets, intermediaries and social media platforms from publishing or circulating or disclosing any video which touches upon the child rape case involving granite baron R Veeramani.Justice V Lakshminarayanan has also directed the media outlets and other entities who have already uploaded any material in connection with crime to remove them forthwith, failing which the police shall vigorously apply the law and ensure their removal.âThis exercise should be completed by Sept 26, and a compliance report shall be filed on Sept 30,â Justice Lakshminarayanan said.The entities who have been injuncted are at liberty to have a discussion on the issues that arise out of child abuse, as long as it does not touch upon the factual matrix in the case, the court clarified.The interim orders were passed on a plea moved by Tulir Charitable Trust (For Prevention & Healing of Child Sexual Abuse) seeking a continuous John Doe order of injunction against all persons, including Living Media India Limited (India Today), Republic Media Network (Republic TV), and Sathiyam Media Vision Private Limited (Sathiyam TV) from broadcasting the video recording of the alleged sexual abuse.âWhile this court cherishes the freedom of speech and expression and in particular, the freedom of the press to disseminate information, this court is also reminded of the gruesome events that took place during the Bombay terrorist attack in 2009,â the court said.
