एक पीआईएल के जवाब में, सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ग्यानेश कुमार द्वारा बिना अन्य निर्वाचन आयुक्तों की मंजूरी के लिये गए निर्णयों और SIR प्रक्रिया में alleged अनियमितताओं को लेकर नोटिस जारी किया। कोर्ट ने सीईसी के तत्काल निलंबन की याचिका को ठुकराते हुए कहा कि यदि आयोग के किसी फैसले में कानून की कमी पाई गई तो उसे निरस्त किया जाएगा।

If proven so, the plea urged the top court to take appropriate action on it. </p><p>Singh urged for an interim order to suspend the CEC, to which the court said it will impact the working of the Election Commission and refused to pass an interim order. </p><p>Hearing arguments from the petitioner's side, the court said if any decision taken by Election Commission is found not to be in accordance with law, then we will annul it.</p><p>This comes days after a report in The Indian Express that mentioned that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi objected on record at least 14 times over the last 10 months to decisions and orders on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of electoral rolls that they said were issued without their knowledge or recommendation. </p> <p><em>(With agency inputs)</em></p>
